August 2003
Stand-up For Women will be performing at Octane, 1188 Davie every Thursday
as of August 28th 2003. All woman comedy show-starts at-8:45pm, $5 at the door with-partial proceeds to W.A.V.A.W. -Women Against Violence Against Women.

August 7th
MTV Canada's Nick Wilson came down to the show and taped comedian Ellie Harvie performing stand-up for a segment on "MTV Select". Ellie and gal pal Christine Lippa, both Vancouver Theatresports alumni will perform improv at Octane August 21st.

August 12th
Comic Jacquie O'Keeffe will be featured on "Richardson's Roundup" on CBC Radio One just after the 3pm news. Jacquie will be interviewed and a few clips of her "Madly Off In All Directions" show taped in June will be aired. Jacquie's-next appearances with us at Octane are August 21st and September 4th, and 18th.

August 21st
Comic Jenn Griffin will perform at Octane Aug 21st. Jenn has won two Jessie Awards for her hilarious one woman-show-"Drinking with Persephone". Next up for Jenn is the "The Big Road". Don't miss her, where ever she goes.

August 28th
Stand Up For Women start performing every thursday, instead of just the 1st, 3rd and 5th thursdays as we did in the past. Aren't we popular? Comics on this thursday's show include Karen Hoskins fresh from the Pride Festival Stage, Nikki Pearson who recently did a radio show with SNL alumni Colin Quinn while at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, plus touring comic Erica Sigurdson named "Funniest Female Comedian" by the Georgia Straight. Special thanks to-the only brave male comic that we have put up so far, disabled comic Tyler Fortin for stopping by and contributing his time and talents to help us raise money for W.A.V.A.W.

September 4th
Octane features ex nun turned stand up comic Jacquie O'Keeffe hosting the show with improv headliners Kristina and Heidi closing the night off. Kristina Agosti is winner of the World Improv Championships at Just For Laughs and has written and performed in two "Pick of The Fringe" productions. Our improv shows are known to draw a crowd on the sidewalk at Davie St... come see for yourself and utter the line we hear every week... "Oh!- What's going on over there, sweetie?"

September 11th
What can we say? It's 9-11... we'll have LOTS to say. View full line up here. Erica Sigurdson will close with the night off with her hilarious views on the absurdities of daily life. What would 9-11 be without Ron Vaudry, a master of topical humor. Ron was gracious enough to stop by Octane and do a set after headlining at the Landmark Comedy Spot.

September 5th to 14th
By the way, if you want to see Jessie Award Winning writer/performer Jenn Griffin you can catch her new Fringe show "The Big Road" at the-Carousel Theatre, 1411 Cartwright St on Granville Island. Jenn's show runs from September 5th-through 14th at 6:00pm. $9 at the door. What a bargain.

September 18th
Octane is pleased to present Nikki Pearson as emcee and ex-nun turned stand up comic Jacquie O'Keeffe headlining the show.

Every week we introduce a different woman comic to Octane's stage... this week catch the hilarious rants of Bev Ilaine formerly of Toronto, now nestled in the sweet arms of B.C.'s rainy coastline. Just how she likes it. DJ Slippery, host of "The Lesbian Show" on CFRO / Co-op Radio, will be onstage at Octane performing and also taping some of the comics for her show. Come on down and catch DJ Slippery do her thing at Octane Thursday September 18th.

Jenn Griffin will be back from appearing in her hilarious one-woman Fringe show, "The Big Road", along with her co-star her sweet dog Flipper, who-patiently sits at the front door and shares his water bowl - with the people who-come too late to get a good seat... call 604 688-0677 to reserve a table. September 19th - Catch Ellie Harvie on CBC tonight at 8pm in a show taped at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre, "The Western Alienation Comedy Hour". Wil Sasso from Mad TV is hosting and there are a bunch of funny Western comics on the show. Tune in.

September 25th

Tune in to BCIT Campus Radio 104.5 CFML today at 9:30am and catch Tim Thiessen interview Viv Pfeffer and Erica Sigurdson as we chat about our comedy show and raising money for W.A.V.A.W.

October 2nd
Erica Sigurdson is hosting the show! Don't miss her, after Octane Erica is on the road, out of town, leavin' on a jet plane... til Nov 1.

October 9th
Headliner Kristina Agosti is winner of the World Improv Championships at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival and has written and performed in two "Pick of The Fringe" productions. Kristina will be performing with Vancouver TheatreSports pal Heidi Waters, and a number of special guests. Join us and LAUGH Oct 9th.

October 16th
Headliner Christine Lippa will perform. Christine has tons of credits in television, feature films and on stage. A triple threat in comedyland, she is very talented, very hilarious and even easy on the eyes. Wow, what a bitch! In addition to performing for us Christine will hold a seminar on emcee skills before the show at 7:30pm with a "postmortem" after the show.
